Luverne Lightfoot relocated with her family to Nevada and found painting as a means to express her impressions of the western splendor. An increased awareness & appreciation of the American West and its people, the 'tepee' symbol (a Native American tent-like dwelling) is included with her signature on her artwork. Lightfoot paints en plein air often, citing that "Nature is the best teacher". Whether painting in the studio or on location, attention to depicting an idea or mood is accomplished by capturing the essence of light through use of color, value & shapes. Her artwork has garnered numerous awards in local and out of state competitions. Patrons of her artwork span the globe. Lightfoot teaches oil and soft pastel painting and the current venue is the Nevada Museum of Art @ http://www.nevadaart.org Please visit Lightfoot's personal website at: http://www.luvernelightfoot.com
