My family has lived in the Reno area for over 120 years. I have hundreds of black and white images taken by my grandfather in the 1920s and 1930s, perhaps my photography is an inherited trait.

I received a Canon 35mm camera as a high school graduation present and Ive been a photographer ever since. That camera has been with me to the other side of the Earth and back and I still use it, though I have switched primarily to digital cameras.

After taking photography classes in college, I managed to win a couple of photo contests, but life intervened and I drifted away from the creative aspects of photography for many years. Along the way, I was either Owner or Publisher of three magazines, so I have taken thousands of photos of homes, people and products for sale. It is only within the past few years that I have turned back to the art of photography.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT

The advent of better digital cameras, the ever-increasing capabilities of Photoshop, and the acquisition of a wide-format printer have allowed me to "push the envelope" of creativity and produce an expanding array of hybrid artwork that blurs the lines between painting and photography. I've recently begun experimenting with digital art and I'm generally pleased with the outcome.

I have put together an eclectic body of work that is essentially a reflection of how I see the world and its infinite possibilities. Where many photographers concentrate their efforts on" scenes" of subjects such as lakes or sunsets, I prefer "slice of life" photos that tell a story. Scenics may capture the beauty of the world, but I would rather have someone look at one of my photos and remark "Now that’s interesting"

If you find my photos visually pleasing, if they show you a view of your surroundings that you arent likely to pay attention to otherwise, if fhey make you think about the world in a different way, then I have succeeded in doing what I set out to do.
