Holly Waltz Watkins is a native of Reno, Nevada. She has always been involved in creativity but did not pursue a career in it until she was 40. She recently set up her studio at Wildflower Village Artist Studios. She enjoys teaching acrylic painting at Wildflower Village and also at many Elementary Schools as a Special Projects Teacher earning her the distinct name “The Plate Lady”. When not creating she spends her time with her nieces, nephews and many Godchildren as FAHolly (Favorite Aunt Holly)! She has a love for classical & jazz music, and her 3 Irish Wolfhounds. Holly says "Creating Art is my key to the Secret Garden. I enjoy learning different techniques, constantly changing and growing. It is in the playing with different surfaces and mediums that respond so differently that I become mesmerized in the subtle changes. I play with gourds, soaps, old wooden windows, wood, metal and just about any surface that stays still long enough for me to change it. I enjoy using acrylic paints, enamel paints, stains, dyes, glass paint, pastels, sculpting clays, woodburners, brushes, palette knives, chisels….they’re all in my favorite toolbox. Creating…. it’s not what I do, it’s who I am…. It’s my very existence. " |
