Basket Weaving – In this workshop you will have an introduction to basketry and its history of materials used. You will learn the basic twining techniques using soft fibers as weavers. Twining is one of the most therapeutic and relaxing methods used in basket weaving. You will make a soft twined amulet bag necklace or a pouch (to hold healing prayers and thoughts).

The instructor is a nationally recognized basketry expert Molly Gardner. Molly has exhibited her prize-winning work in several venues, since 1997. Several galleries have featured her work, including the Silver State Gallery in which she is a resident artist.

In the artist’s words: As a basket artist, I truly enjoy the experience of creating original and diverse pieces. Baskets are more than ‘just baskets’, they are timeless vessels that have survived through the ages and are a part of our history. Some of the baskets that I design are utilitarian, but I also create unique and decorative works. I feel that my baskets speak to the right person and find a place in their heart. My baskets are in many personal collections locally and nationwide.
