Luverne Lightfoot has presented numerous demonstrations and workshops for various art organizations in and out of the state. She has attended several workshops and classes ranging from the Truckee Meadows Community College to classes with the renowned artist/teachers Keith Ward, George Strickland, Camille Przewodek, Marbo Barnard, Bob Gerbracht, Urania Tarbet, and Stephen Quiller. Luverne has received several awards, from local to international shows and exhibits. Her work has been featured in several galleries and around the country.

Soft Pastels – In this workshop you will learn how to paint an impressionistic interpretation of nature’s light by utilizing an under painting to record the light key. We will be working on a paper that is especially adapted to using a liquid under painting. Soft pastels are “user friendly”.

The instructor will be the highly respected Luverne Lightfoot , who currently teaches soft pastel and oil painting at the Nevada Museum of Art. She strives to capture color and light relationship in her landscapes, whether she is working in the studio or painting en plein-air. Her exceptionally beautiful work has been featured in numerous galleries. Exhibiting in various open and juried shows, her paintings consistently earn awards including numerous Best of Shows.

In the artist’s words : As an artist, I want to communicate visually with viewers my excitement and emotions about the place or object: to experience the light, the atmosphere, the warmth or coolness. Subject matter is varied and my primary concern is capturing color and light relationships. Painting is where the artist and their art converge.
