Dane Austin Meier

Dane Austin Meier graduated from Willamette University with a B.A. in History, a minor in art and science studies, and a Masters in Teaching. He resides and creates in Reno, NV, and currently teaches Art and Ceramics classes at McQueen High School. His pieces are created using traditional throwing techniques on the wheel, then altered using his hands or porcelain slip to create a modern twist on traditional forms. All of the glazes he uses are hand-mixed using pure chemicals, and applied using different techniques such as spraying, dipping, dripping, and combining with ash. Each piece is a unique reflection of the alteration and glaze techniques used, and his pieces are often inspired by the colors and shapes of his surroundings.
