Plein-Air Painting

Scott Robert Harvey was born in 1957 in Fulton, New York. He spent most of his youth growing up in New Mexico, Georgia and Kansas. Six years ago he lived near Dallas, Texas, and then moved to the Reno area in December of 2000 where he currently paints full time as a professional artist.

Plein-Air Painting - This workshop offers the opportunity to work with a master of light, color and spontaneity in the great outdoors using oil paints. You will learn the technique of using deliberate brush strokes, with very little blending to avoid making muddy colors.

This class will be taught by Scott Harvey, who began his career as a painter at the age of 12, where he exhibited and sold paintings at the Chautauqua Exhibition of American Art. Scott was a charter member of the Kansas Academy of Oil Painters, founded in 1986. He has also exhibited frequently in the National Small Oil Painting Exhibition, and is represented by the Southwest Gallery of Fine Art in Dallas.

In the artist’s words: Teaching is an adjunct to my personal experience. I learn the most through interaction with others and the sharing of ideas: Sometimes students come up with technical challenges that I may not have considered. It’s also an extension of this service aspect one finds in life, in giving back what you have learned. I hope to be able to articulate something , which may help others along in their pursuits.
